Primary Sector Case Study:
Holy Name RC School

A partnership that provides a Managed Service and a robust ICT solution that really helps to support both staff and pupils’ needs.

The Issues that mattered to the school:

The School’s senior leadership team understood the importance of ICT to both staff and pupils.  Authorising a significant investment that included additional building work, new benching, cabling, interactive whiteboard technology and new PC’s, they recognised that for these resources to be used effectively, working with a supplier who understood educational issues was essential. They also acknowledged that they needed a regular physical support presence to maintain the investment and provide ongoing effectiveness.

The Zentek Solution

Zentek assessed the school’s needs and recommended a Managed Service support contract that provides an on-site technical visit for half a day each week. Unlike the offering of many other suppliers in the region, the technical support is delivered by a competent and experienced technician, backed up by a team of engineers and consultants.

With all visits scheduled at the beginning of each term, the school get the same technician each time to ensure continuity and quality of service. Zentek’s Service Level Agreement (SLA) details exactly what the school gets from the contract and delivers exceptional service levels accordingly. This is exemplified by the fact that during this period, Zentek has achieved and maintained a 100% attendance record; something other suppliers can only dream of!

As ICT is becoming more challenging, especially to a busy teaching staff, regular visits from Zentek’s dedicated Account Manager has proved particularly beneficial. This model has produced a relationship of trust between Zentek and the school’s staff as there is genuine understanding and a detailed working knowledge of the schools infrastructure, network and ethos of delivering ICT to the pupils.

A recent example of this was seen when it was decided that the facilities needed to expand. The account manager was contacted with discussions resulting in the deployment of a new ICT suite and the rest of the network reconfigured reinstalled to a uniform standard, incorporating the schools specification, access to shared areas and age appropriate software.  This standardisation has lead to a more effective and consistent usage of ICT for staff and pupils, increasing both standards and confidence in new technology.
The resulting ability to share printers and internet in a secure and effective fashion has positively enhanced the experience of the user and increase teaching and learning options.

One of the most significant benefits to the school has been that in the event of a system problem, Zentek’s technical support to fix it within the SLA timescales rather than waiting until the next scheduled visit.  This has allowed the pupils to make the most of their access to ICT and minimised any disruptions!

What the school says about the solution:

"We have worked with Zentek since April 2004. They have provided us with weekly technical support and realistic strategic advice which has made a significant difference to our ICT curriculum provision. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone wanting reliability, friendly support and real ICT improvement".
